There are many ways for AEGEE members to become active in Europe: working in international teams like Working Groups and Project Teams, being parliamentarians at Agoras or steering AEGEE through the European commissions or the Comité Directeur.

Antennae
"Antenna" is the name of an AEGEE local. An antenna is usually organises at least one European event per year as well as local activities. Currently there are 270 antennae and contact groups in university cities all around Europe, from Moscow to London, from Istanbul to Stockholm. Thus AEGEE numbers, nowadays, about 17.000 members.

Comité Directeur
The Comité Directeur, the board of directors, consists of a maximum of nine persons from at least four countries. Elections take place twice a year at the occasion of the Agora. The CD is composed of a President, a Secretary, a Treasurer and six additional members charged with specific tasks, among them up to three Vice-Presidents. Every CD member has his or her own area of responsibility. As a whole, the CD is the administrative and represantative body of AEGEE, with responsibility for contacts to the European Union and the Council of Europe.

AGORA
The Agora, AEGEE's General Assembly, meets twice a year. Up to 600 members gather for three days to discuss proposals and projects, take decisions and set up the guidelines for AEGEE. The word "Agora" is a greek word ("ÁãïñÜ") and stands for a street of shops. It originates from the ancient greek verb "aãåßñù" which means "to assembly". The Ágora was the most important and vital part of the ancient greek city. It was the place where all the political meetings, the commercial exchanges, the religious ceremonies and the sport events took place. It was the Ágora in Athina, where the famous Socrates taught and died and where ancient Greeks talked about philosophy, democracy, bravery, poetry and love.

Planning Meeting
The Planning Meeting is the association ‘s think tank. It serves to set up AEGEE's thematic orientation. It takes place twice a year: in March as "Think Europe!" meeting and in September as "Action Europe!" meeting.

Working Groups
The Working Groups are the thematic backbone of AEGEE. They are multinational groups of AEGEE members interested in specific issues, such as education policy, minorities in Europe, environmental issues and more... They organise events, edit publications, conduct discussions, etc. The most important Working Groups are: Cultural Working Group (CWG), Education Working Group (EWG), Human Rights Working Group (HRWG), International Politics Working Group (IPWG), East-West Working Group (EWWG), Academy, Informatics Technology Working Group (ITWG), Public Relations Working Group (PRWG).

The commissions
The Commissions are supporting or controlling bodies to the CD. They consist of the Audit Commission, the Members Commission, the Juridical Commission and the Network Commission.

Project Teams
The Project Teams coordinate the work of the European-wide projects of AEGEE. These projects are series of conferences and other activities on a certain subject. The teams consist of members from different participating locals.
